TIEN IS A QUEER TEXTILE ARTIST, POET, AND PAINTER.
Tien’s (pronounced Thee-en) process primarily explores alchemizing raw and difficult emotions and past experiences, by sifting through the tumultuous sea of her inner psyche, personal belongings, and transmuting painful associations and attachments to these objects and feelings into her art, like sorrow into silk. She loves spinning out, whether it’s with her words, string, or paint—weaving together a particular feeling in time and space is the basis of her art practice.

MEET TIEN
Originally from the bible belt, she carved her own lane into Los Angeles by staying determined and following her dreams. In the pandemic of 2020, she started her journey as an LA hairstylist and artist, gaining a reputation as a queer viet hairstylist, giving gender-affirming haircuts and colors.
Studies show that on average women smile 62 times a day, men smile about 8 times, and babies a whopping 200 times a day. Tien identifies as "just a baby," loves soaking up all that this silly life has to offer and cheesing and laughing as much as possible while doing it. She lives and works in Los Angeles, CA where the sky is always blue and the palm trees are always swaying in the wind and wouldn't have it any other way.
